Le Tour is nearly here in Yorkshire!

Two weeks to go folks and the county is going bike crazy!

It's fantastic everybody is getting into the spirit with yellow bikes on walls of homes, shops, businesses and on dry stone walls and even in our lush green fields!

Here in Nidderdale there are celebrations galore organised with the towns and villages really getting on board, so here's to a cracking weekend and let's put Yorkshire well and truly on the map!

Have fun!

Happy New Year from Sarah at Yorkshire Bolt Holes!

Wishing you all a very happy and healthy 2014

The end of one year and the beginning of the next is always a great opportunity to reflect both personally and within the business.

Last year was Yorkshire Bolt Holes busiest!  96% occupancy at Bewerley Hall Cottage and 83% at Ashknott Cottage, that's not bad if I say so myself!  That's a lot of washing, ironing, cleaning and loo rolls but the most important thing is knowing that my guests have enjoyed their stay, discovered a new area and wish to return to explore more the next time.

I am so lucky to have the opportunity to look after you all and will always strive to do my best.

2014 is going to be a fantastic year for both Yorkshire Bolt Holes and Yorkshire in general.  The county is very excited to be hosting the 'Tour de France' in July, which will put the area certainly on the map both within the UK and across the world.

Whatever the year ahead brings.... let's be happy, healthy and take some time out for our ourselves and enjoy!

Best wishes

January Sale Getaway from Yorkshire Bolt Holes

What better way to kick off 2014 with a relaxing weekend or midweek break?  Or if getting out there and blowing away the cobwebs is more your thing, well, you've come to the right place!

Delighted to announce the launch of the 'January Sale Getaway'!  There are lots of lovely breaks currently available at Ashknott Holiday Cottage in Kirkby Malzeard near Masham and also at Bewerley Hall Cottage just outside Pateley Bridge, in Nidderdale in the Yorkshire Dales.

Do as much or as little as you wish!  There is fantastic walking available locally, great pubs, independent shops, fine local breweries of Black Sheep and Theakstons, splendid market towns including Masham, Ripon, Leyburn or the beautiful spa town of Harrogate to while away an hour or two?

Why not visit stunning Fountains Abbey, Brimham Rocks and Studley all part of the National Trust family?  Or Bolton Abbey, Burnsall, Appletreewick and Grassington?

There is lots to do should you want it or just kick back and enjoy the log burner, a film or two and snuggle up with your loved one in a cosy, comfy cottage in the Dales!

Happy New Year then!

Best wishes

Have yourself a very merry Christmas!

Well the snow hasn't come just yet, this photo was taken outside Bewerley Hall Cottage back in 2009! But I thought it was quite seasonal and wanted to wish you and yours a fantastic Christmas and a healthy and happy 2014.

What a year this has been, so busy, so fabulous to welcome so many of you back to Ashknott Cottage and Bewerley Hall Cottage, thank you so much for your continued support, it means such a lot to me, the icing on the cake in fact when guests wish to return, some of you more than once in the same year - thank you!

The year ahead is also getting quite busy, so if it's a short break you fancy or a longer stay, then please give it some thought over the Christmas break and make your reservation soon to avoid any possible disappointment.

Remember at Yorkshire Bolt Holes, I offer short breaks all the year round which are proving extremely popular!  Come and enjoy three weekend nights or four midweek nights at either cottage, it's great to get away, even if it's just for a few days!  Of course there is so much to do in Nidderdale a longer stay is always recommended but I understand that time is precious.

So have yourself a very merry Christmas, hope he's good to you and look forward to seeing you in 2014.

Best wishes

Wednesday 9 October 2013

And then it was October 2013!...

Well how on earth did we get to October already?!

I cannot quite believe where this year has gone.  Doesn't seem five minutes ago since it was Easter and what do you know?  The Halloween invites are out and the 'C' word is starting to cross everybodies lips!

It's been quite a year, a brilliant year for tourism in the UK and a cracking summer to boot!  Lazy, hazy days of sunshine and the economy on the up again - hoorah!

I have welcomed familiar faces over the last few months and a few new ones too, including quite a few of you enjoying a 'mini moon' after your wedding celebrations - why not?  A Yorkshire Bolt Hole is quite the spot just for two!

I'll be quite honest, availability is pretty thin at Bewerley Hall Cottage now this side of Christmas, however I do have a few midweek breaks in December if you fancy getting away for a few days and enjoying the Nidderdale countryside?  Ashknott Cottage is filling up nicely too so if a Autumn/Winter break is what you need, please don't hang about!

Bookings are already coming in for 2014 so if you are tied to specific dates, I would certainly check out my latest availability and make sure your dates are reserved to avoid any possible disappointment.

There's been a change of address for Riley and myself recently, we've moved up to just outside Masham, on the edge of Nidderdale and Wensleydale and are simply loving it!  It is fantastic to be living in such a friendly and pretty spot and to be able to get out and about exploring lots of new walks for me to pass onto you when you next holiday here.

I promise I will be back in touch before the year is out and really look forward to welcoming you to Ashknott Cottage or Bewerley Hall Cottage one day very soon.

Until then,

Best wishes

Lazy, Hazy Days of Summer!

Hi folks!

Well here we are nearly at the end of July!  We've been enjoying some great weather here in Yorkshire over the last few weeks and it's supposed to last into August!  Roll on!

Yes the last few months have gone in a blink!  Have been busy welcoming lots of new faces to Ashknott Cottage and Bewerley Hall Cottage, including those that have travelled a few miles to stay also!  From Florida to New South Wales in fact and a few places in between!

Now that the Tour de France 2013 is over - the baton as it were has been handed over to Yorkshire!  We are going to be hosting the 'Grand Depart' on the 05th and 06th July 2014 and it will be passing through local villages such as West Tanfield, Ripon and Harrogate.  Harrogate is expecting over 3 million visitors that weekend!  I must share with you that both my cottages are already booked so if you do fancy staying and making a holiday out of it, I'd get organised quick.

Riley and I have been enjoying some great walks recently too, he's been enjoying cooling off in the local reservoirs of Swinsty, Fewston and Thruscross, great places to walk around with or without a dog and just a stone's throw from Harrogate.

Well as we sail into August, have a terrific summer wherever you may lay your hat and hopefully you'll come to visit a Yorkshire Bolt Hole very soon for a short break or a little longer perhaps?

Wild Garlic, Sunshine and Beautiful Bluebells!

Hello folks!

This is more like it, a lovely bit of sunshine to enjoy!  What a change a few weeks make!

April came and went in a flash to be honest, welcoming back lots of familiar faces and waggy tails!
We have launched our new range of natural toiletries thanks to our friends at Oakwood Aromatics - Phil and Kate.  They lovingly make their goodies just down the road in West Tanfield, close to Masham and even use local Yorkshire rapeseed oil no less.  Hope you will enjoy them as much as I have enjoyed trying them out!

Riley and I have managed to get some good walks in recently too, enjoying the sight of young spring lambs skipping about the fields, wild garlic and of course beautiful bluebells that grace our stunning woods.

Our calendar is booking up rapidly but we do still have availability during July, August and September so if you fancy a break at a gorgeous 18th century cottage just for two in Nidderdale, Yorkshire, then come say hello!

Wishing you a wonderful Summer,

Best wishes
